If you’ve been looking for a band that takes alternative rock and injects it with jazz, funk, and progressive jamming, look no further, Tauk is your band.
Tauk, which hails from Montauk, Long Island, NY, is comprised of five high school friends: Alessandro Zanelli (vocals), Matt Jalbert (guitar), Charlie Dolan (bass), Alric “A.C.” Carter (keyboards/organ), and Adam Akpinar (drums). Together they have crafted a truly unique blend of genres that creates tightly structured songs that give way to exciting and progressive jams.
Tauk toured with Tea Leaf Green in the fall of 2010 to support their debut album Brokedown King which was released in the summer of 2010. The album features eleven perfected tracks that showcases their depth and mastery of numerous genres together as a band.
A few standout tracks include the funky “Eva,” the funky jazzed up “Snoopy’s Revenge,” the rockin’ “Roll With The Punches,” and catchy alt-rock infused “Eye To Eye” and “Does It Matter?”
Throughout the album are numerous riffs and stylings reminiscent of jam scene favorites such as the legendary Phish, prog-rockers Umphrey’s McGee, and southern rockers moe.; just another sign Tauk knows what they are doing.
With their unique and impressive sound from fusing genres Tauk is sure to keep climbing the ranks in the jam scene.
