Local Man Found Alive In Bed
The Emergency Services switchboard operator answered the phone as usual.
“911, what’s your emergency?” She asked in a collected tone.
“My son’s dead! I know he’s dead!” came in a panicked tone from the other end of the line.
“Calm down, ‘Mam. Why do you think your son is dead?”
“His door is locked. He was supposed to be at work 3 hours ago. He never misses work. Never!”
“We’re on our way. It’s important for you to remain as calm as possible and stay on the line,” continued the operator.
When paramedics arrived on the scene, they took position to break down the door. One paramedic threw his leg up to kick it in. Just then, it opened.
“What’s going on?” asked a groggy Jason Bates, the son of the panicked woman.
Jason went on to say, “No, I don’t work today. I have the day off, I was just sleeping in.”
All in all, crisis averted. One casualty, however, was the paramedic’s ankle which he twisted when attempting to kick-in the opened door.
